By Bruno Souza, Founder of Black Swan Media
I kept hearing about Keap for a couple of years while also seeing their booths at various marketing conferences. Formerly known as Infusionsoft, they went through a brand overrhaul in an attempt to save the dying software. Seeing the massive amounts of dollars Keap was putting into their marketing, I was curious just how much better Keap was compared to Infusionsoft, and if they could dethrone GoHighlevel. And so this year I finally decided to try out Keap …
For context, I was already using GoHighlevel (and you can read my review of GoHighlevel here), and if there was a software better than GoHighlevel, I wanted to find it. And so here is my comparison between Keap vs GoHighlevel.
Keap is an “almost” all in-one sales and marketing automation platform that’s designed for small business owners. It aims to simplify and enhance sales processes by providing tools and insights that help businesses attract customers and manage their sales efforts effectively.
10/10 onboarding experience…
Short learning curve…
Easy to use…
Designed for small business owners looking for a simple customer relationship management software…
Lacks 80% of what Highlevel offers (with the biggest loss being SMS marketing)…
No whitelabel capabilities (meaning, you’re not going to be reselling it)…
Deceptive pricing and marketing…
Far, far more expensive than GoHighlevel…
Not designed for marketing agencies to use…
No community and overall a lack of education…
Expenses easily scale up with use…
Keap appeals to small business owners (excluding marketing agencies) who want a DIY solution for their customer relationship management software.
However, I strongly dislike that they do not have SMS marketing automation capabilities because at Black Swan Media we have generated MILLIONS in revenue for our clients with SMS marketing alone. And quite frankly, a marketing software like Keap not offering SMS Marketing feels like a ship without an engine.
For that reason alone, it’s hard for me to recommend Keap even to a small business owner.
Lastly, I’ll get into GoHighlevel vs Keap pricing later, but due to Keap’s scaling price based on the number of contacts, as well as their “implementation fee”, they once again make it hard for me to declare them as a winner in any category, even for small and medium businesses.
GoHighlevel is truly an all in one marketing platform and customer relationship management software. Its CRM features include robust sales pipeline management, which effectively tracks leads and provides insights into the sales process. I’ve personally been using GoHighlevel for 5 years and was able to build a 7 figure marketing agency from scratch with GoHighlevel being the cornerstone piece of technology.
Can be overwhelming for complete beginners…
Has a big learning curve…
Not equipped to be “all in one” for e-commerce businesses…
Consolidates tech stacks into their all in one solutions…
Lets you scale customer fulfillment without scaling costs…
Massive free library of high-quality training on how to use Gohighlevel, acquire customers, and scale a Highlevel-based business…
Huge community of business owners who happily share what’s working marketing wise
Covers all remarketing channels (SMS, E-mail, chatbots, and even voice)
Integrates directly with all notable marketing channels (Meta, Google, Tik Tok, LinkedIn, WordPress, Shopify, etc…)
Fully functional as a whitelabel software…
Constantly innovating based on suggestions from users…
Most cost effective all-in-one marketing solution
GoHighLevel also includes powerful analytics tools for tracking and evaluating sales performance.
Overall, with GoHighlevel you’re getting the most extensive suite of solutions without sacrificing quality and without having to pay insane prices.

If you’re only comparing the sales and automation features between GoHighlevel vs Keap, then GoHighlevel wins by a landslide.
In short, what all this means is that with GoHighlevel, 90% of the work is already done for you. With Keap, they’ll charge you $1,500 just to set up 3 automations.
Down below you’ll find a gallery where you can see the differences between the automations offered by Keap vs GoHighlevel.
Keap offers basic email marketing. You can email your contacts, create nurturing sequences, and remind them of appointments.
GoHighlevel does all of that and takes it a step further by allowing A/B split testing, in-depth analytics of your emails (open rate, bounce rate, click through rate, and response rate), and creating “if this then that” email sequences.
So for example, if you send out an invoice and a prospect opens it but doesn’t pay, then you can have GoHighlevel send out a particular reminder email.
If the prospect never opens the invoice to begin with, you can GoHighlevel send out a different email.
The takeaway is that with Keap you get very basic functions whereas with GoHighlevel you’re getting complete control.
GoHighlevel vs Keap when it comes to contact management is a beatdown. Keap offers the bare minimum and basics in the sense that they store contacts and let you tag them, whereas GoHighlevel has one of the most robust contact management system out of any software.
Down below you’ll find a gallery with screenshots from both. With Keap, you can email your contacts.
With GoHighlevel you can:
GoHighlevel dominates when it comes to contact management because not only can you just do more with your contacts, but you can store an unlimited number of them. Keap makes you pay for every 1,000 additional contacts, meaning that not only do they have a worse product, but they charge more.

Highlevel Vs Keap for Ecommerce
When it comes to Keap vs GoHighlevel for e-commerce the answer is clear. Gohighlevel wins because it integrate directly with platforms like Shopify and WordPress (which is used for WooCommerce).
For our ecommerce clients, SMS marketing accounts for 10-15% of their revenue, meaning that a $1,000,000/year client would lose $150,000 by switching to Keap as Keap does not have SMS automation marketing.
Additionally, for ecommerce businesses, detailed analytics, audience segmentation, and targeted email marketing are essential. These are all areas where GoHighlevel dominates Keap.
And with GoHighlevel allowing you to build custom dashboards using any points of data (and they track ALL points of data), it means you can customize your analytics as you see fit rather than being limited to what Keap would let you build.
Here’s an example of a detailed client dashboard:
As of now, GoHighlevel offers complete white-labeling capabilities whereas Keap does not have the option for users to whitelabel.
Both GoHighlevel and Keap have affilate programs with GoHighlevel’s affiliate program paying twice as much as Keap’s and providing affiliates with an abundance of resources to help onboard new users.
When it comes to key features, both GoHighLevel and Keap offer a range of tools to help businesses grow. However, GoHighLevel stands out for its superior automation capabilities, broad customization choices, and strong framework for scaling operations. Here are some of the key features of each platform:
So I want to start this section off with an apology. I’m sure you were looking for a very easy Gohighlevel vs Keap pricing comparison which I have tried to include below. However, Keap’s front facing pricing plans are so convoluted and deceptive, that down below you’re going to find a detailed breakdown of what you’re actually paying when you use Keap.
I was enjoying Keap until I saw their pricing model. And since this isn’t a Keap review, instead a comparison of Keap and GoHighlevel, I’ll keep this section short and just lay out the facts:
Keap compares their Ignite plan ($297/mo) to GoHighlevel’s Agency Plan ($297/mo)
This is horribly deceptive because the Agency Plan is meant for marketing agencies selling more than 3 subaccounts, where as by comparison Keap is only 1 “subaccount”.
(this is a screenshot from Keap’s own comparison, direct from their website)
The correct comparison of Keap vs Gohighlevel would be comparing GoHighlevel’s Starter plan which is only $97/mo to Keap’s Ignite plan which is $297/mo.
When it comes to Gohighlevel vs Keap, if Keap is having to resort to deceptive pricing comparisons to sell themselves, that tells me that they don’t really have a leg to stand on .
Second, Keap markets their price as “$247”. But that $247 is only if you pay annually. The actual cost is $297/mo
Third, Keap has a one time implementation fee that starts at $1,500 and goes up to $3,500. You can get discounts on the implementation fee depending on what promotion Keap is running.
To compare with GoHighlevel, Highlevel offers the same level of support with $0 in mandatory implementation fees.
If you did want to hire Highlevel’s team to help you implement, then it’s only $300.
Keap positions their Gohighlevel vs Keap comparison to imply that GoHighlevel has all these variable and pay-as-you go costs (which is true – however, those costs are literal pennies), when in reality, Keap has a nightmare fuel pricing structure:
Your minimum monthly cost starts with 2 users and 1,500 contacts.
Every user you add on is an extra $39/mo
Every 1,000 contacts you add on is an extra $36/mo
Comparing Keap vs GoHighlevel, Highlevel is the clear winner here with unlimited users/contacts for ALL of their plans.
With those details out of the way, here’s a scenario of what you would acutally be paying with Keap.
Let’s say you’re a small business with 4 employees, and 2,000 people in your contact database.
With Keap, you would be paying a minimum of a $1,500 implementation fee and $413/mo. With Highlevel you would be paying $97/mo.
GoHighlevel has 3 pricing tiers and it’s all pretty straight forward:
GoHighlevel Starter Plan ($97/mo): It gives you access to all the major features of GoHighlevel EXCEPT their AI Sales Agent Eliza, automatic customer rebilling for SMS/Email usage, and SaaS Mode.
The starter plan gives you that level of access for up to 3 sub accounts.
The GoHighlevel Agency Plan ($297/mo): The agency plan gives you everything in the starter plan but with an unlimited amount of sub accounts.
The GoHighlevel Agency Pro Plan, otherwise known as SaaS mode ($497/mo). This plan comes with everything in the Agency Plan plus:
SaaS Mode – Allows you to create custom SaaS packages for you to sell directly to the customers.
Automated onboarding with sub-account creation as part of SaaS Mode.
Ability to rebill your customers automatically with your desired surcharges for SMS usage, email marketing, or any other variable costs.
Access to the Eliza AI. The AI can be hooked up to email marketing campaigns, SMS marketing, GBP profiles, chatbots and social media accounts and can handle full start to finish sales cycles and follow ups with both new and existing leads
Overall, when it comes to the value provided, GoHighlevel absolutely smashes it. Not only is the only GoHighlevel software far better than Keap, but all in all, it’s far cheaper for small and medium businesses, and the only sensible solution for marketing agencies.
When it comes to ease of use, Keap takes the win. Keap has a very linear and straightforward onboarding experience. The design of the platform is clean and easy to navigate. I was personally able to login to Keap and figure it out on my own within 15 minutes. However, that is what is to be expected when Keap has only a small fraction of features compared to Highlevel: a toy car will have less buttons to push than a real one.
Highlevel does not have the friendliest learning curve. I’ve seen a lot of new users go into Highlevel on their own, get overwhelmed and quit. It is definitely not a software that you would want to login on your own and go exploring.
Highlevel does offset this by offering 1:1 onboarding calls, preloading their system with hundreds of templates and marketing automations (something Keap will charge you an expensive fee for), and providing new users with training.
Below are screenshots of the Highlevel interface and the Keap interface:
Comparing GoHighlevel’s support with Keap’s Support is like comparing apples and oranges because on one hand, Keap will charge you a few thousand to get access to a customer support rep who will help you build workflows, while on the other, GoHighlevel offers 24/7 customer support for free, but the quality in reps vary.
In general, I prefer Highlevel’s customer support because not only are the able 24/7 for an online chat, but you can also do live zoom calls with them, call in to the support team, and get ahold of a real human to help you with Highlevel.
Highlevel’s support comes in tiers: Tier 1 support agents will try to resolve your problem. If they can’t they’ll escalate your ticket to a Tier 2 agent. In the past, the tier 1 support teams have been able to solve half the issues we had with Highlevel with the other half of our tickets being escalated.
The downside is that sometimes the Tier 2 specialists can take 1-2 business days to reply or fix this issue.
When it comes to live support, Highlevel wins because of their unlimited 24/7 support at no additional cost.
Another area where Keap is lacking is their community. Highlevel has a massive community of both small and medium businesses and agency owners. The community frequently makes suggestions to the dev team, and sometimes within a week the developers implement the upgrades.
The Highlevel community puts out volumes and volumes of marketing training on every niche, and every aspect of Highlevel. Meaning, no matter what you’re trying to accomplish, there’s a free resource out there showing you how to do it.
If you’re comparing Highlevel vs Keap when it comes to integrations, Highlevel wins by a landslide. Both Highlevel and Keap integrate with Zapier, which for most people is going to be enough. However, without a direct integation with the softwares you’re working with, zapier can get expensive.
Highlevel is better than Keap when it comes to integrations because they are directly integrated with:
The Meta ecosystem (Facebook, Instagram)
The Google Ecosystem (Google Analytics, Google Business Profiles, Google Suite, and Google Pay-Per-Click)
TikTok
Stripe
Paypal
Quickbooks
Twilio
Mailgun
And so much more.
There is no scenario in which I would recommend Keap over GoHighlevel. Despite Keap having an easier onboarding experience, their one pro is offset by Keap being far more expensive and is far less useful than Highlevel. For both small and medium businesses, as well as marketing agencies, I would recommend GoHighlevel.
GoHighlevel has more features, more functionality, more training, is way more cost effective, and overall a better solution.
When it comes to digital marketing agencies, GoHighLevel is the clear winner. Its superior automation capabilities, broad customization choices, and strong framework for scaling operations make it the perfect platform for agencies looking to streamline their marketing efforts and boost sales.
Additionally, GoHighLevel’s agency starter account and branded desktop app make it easy for agencies to manage their clients and provide them with a professional-grade marketing platform.
And you would think that Keap would be suited for small and medium businesses looking to improve their marketing, sales, and operational efficiency. While it offers a range of features and tools, it may not be as robust as GoHighLevel for larger agencies or businesses with more complex marketing needs. Additioanlly, because Keap is far more expensive than GoHighlevel, Keap flat out loses this competition.
GoHighLevel’s extensive suite of tools, including CRM, email and SMS marketing automation, funnel building, and detailed analytics, make it the ideal choice for digital marketing agencies aiming to scale their operations and deliver exceptional results for their clients.
In conclusion, both GoHighLevel and Keap are powerful marketing platforms that can help businesses grow and improve their marketing efforts. However, GoHighLevel stands out for its superior automation capabilities, broad customization choices, and strong framework for scaling operations. For digital marketing agencies, GoHighLevel is the clear winner, offering a range of features and tools that can help them streamline their marketing efforts and boost sales. For small and medium businesses, Keap may be a better choice, offering a range of features and tools that can help them improve their marketing, sales, and operational efficiency. Ultimately, the choice between GoHighLevel and Keap will depend on the specific needs and goals of the business.
*For new and existing users looking to explore ALL of GoHighlevel’s features
*For new users looking to get a super fast crash course on how to use GoHighlevel.
*For new users looking to start with GoHighlevel and walk away with a few clients in just 5 days.
If you're looking for something better than Keap than the best option is GoHighlevel because it's more robust, less expensive, has better training, and has a longer 30 day free trial.
If you're wondering what Keep used to be called, then know that Keep used to be called Infusionsoft. In January of 2019, in order to save the dying software, Infusionsoft attempted the rebrand.
If you're wondering Is Keep worth it? The answer is: No. There are far better alternatives such as GoHighlevel as it's less expensive, more robust, and comes with a 30 day free trial.
